Introduction of Nyrius wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver Kits

Nyrius is one of leaders of wireless transmission manufacturers. They have provided customers wireless audio&video transmitter and receivers for many years. The new Nyrius wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver system allows you simply unplug the cable from any source device and plug the transceiver instead of moving your laptop or PS3 kit. With it, you get away from the long HDMI cable formerly required running across the house to connect with the second TV. You could also place any source component, such as Blu-ray Disc player, farther away from the TV or home theater receiver, or even in the next room.  And these are just parts of all efforts Nyrius has made. In order to meet differentiated need in the modern wireless HD era Nyrius has manufactured different Wireless HDMI kits accordingly.

They have mobile models: Prime and Pro; and stationary models: Home and Home Plus(Home+). Most newly item released by Nyrius is Aries Matrix, which supports up to 4 HDMI devices and 2 component video devices simultaneously.  All these models share similar but not totally same features.

These devices look alike and you will find the explanation pages are in the same way.  How can we decide which one meet your own unique needs most?  In my way of getting the Nyrius Home+ wireless HDMI kit I found all the secrets are deeply buried in their manuals. These manuals, usually 30- 40 pages, tell all the unique characteristics of each model. I have gone through to make the table below, so you don’t even need other reviews to help you make the final decision.

Common Features Shared by Nyrius wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver Systems

They can transmit signals through walls or even floors as long as you are within transmitting range (through obstacles may diminish the broadcasting range).If you have a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver these HD wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver systems will guarantee a robust wireless connection to bring you the high quality video and audio playback.

All these models support full HD at 1080P resolution without sacrificing any video nor audio quality. Most of them are also compatible of 3D playback. The responsiveness is very impressive. Nyrius claims these gadgets are “zero lag” with its solution, and according to WHDI standard the latency is less than 1ms. After using My Home+ for a couple of times, I have not noticed any type of latency. Sometimes I completely forgot that I was watching over a streaming connection.

The transmitter and receivers pairing is rather easy. No software or complex configuration is needed. Nyrius wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver kits works just like the idea smart device we want to have: “Plug and Play.”

The receiver has only one standard HMDI output. If you want to have more wireless connections with multiple display devices, you could simply add more separated receiver to your system. Because WHDI allows Nyrius transmitter to send signals up to 8 individual devices. In fact, WHDI supports “Point To Point” and “Multi-point to Multi-point” connections we will have this kind of device in the near future.

Except for Prime all other Nyrius Aries HDMI kits come with IR extenders that allow you to control your source device with its remote from the TV’s location. And you can also use it to pair additional transmitters and rename them if necessary. The remote’s IR signal is transmitted by the receiver to the transmitter and then through the IR extender to the source device. When Nyrius designed their products they used industry standards for IR signals and therefore all IR units are compatible with the majority of source devices on the market.

Home VS Home Plus

Aries Home wireless HDMI Kit offers the ability to wirelessly transmit a HDMI signal up to 100 feet line of sight allowing you to wirelessly send movies, cable/satellite TV, or video games to a remote TV or display. IR extend function enables you to change the TV station, pause, play or stop a movie from another location.

The Aries Home+ was released in 2012 and offers all the same features as the NAVS500 with the added benefit of being able to expand this system with additional transmitters. It also adapts the latest HDMI 1.4a standard tech to support passive 3D video over HDMI.

I did work with my Home Plus to transmit the 1080P video signal from the first floor to the second, but I could only manage that in some correct placement. It seems like with a clear line of sight you can achieve the full 100′ as described, and beaming through floors and/or walls may decrease the range.

Prime VS Pro

Aries Pro and Prime are very similar products. Prime is designed to work in one room application such as a classroom or living room and would be used for sending a computer, cable box, DVR player or video game console to a TV located in the same room. So it has a relatively short transmitting range, literally 30 feet line of sight and has no IR extension function. The Aries Pro allows multiple transmitters to connect with one receiver. It has the longest range all these stuffs mentioned above: 160 feet line of sight. Like Home+, the signal can be transmitted by Pro from downstairs to upstairs. Both units perform perfectly when sending a signal across one room.

Pro is compatible with the Aries Home+.  You can easily add additional units to this system depending on your needs. Purchase any number of additional receivers to broadcast to more TVs.

Nyrius ARIES Matrix wireless HDMI transmitting System

One limitation for Pro and Home kits is that their transmitter unit only has only one HDMI input. In other words, you can only connect one source device for beaming. One connection is not enough for home or office with multiple HD devices. It means that switching between different source devices must be done in the inconvenient manual way. In order to overcome this, Nyrius has developed the ARIES Matrix with 4 HDMI input slots and 2 component ones. It will ultimately function as one easily-accessible switch center. The included remote enables you the flexibility to conveniently switch between all 6 inputs. Matrix has also a loop-through HDMI output. So you can arrange two separate HDTV environments – one wired connection located in your entertainment center and one wireless for HDTV in your bedroom.

My Suggestion of Home+ system.

I am currently a fan of the Nyrius Home+ HD transmitter. It is especially nice to do away with wires from your home media center without worrying about a drop in picture quality. It seems pretty good for a signal without any drop of quality that had traveled across several walls. It is rather expensive for more than $200, but considered the wireless convenience Nyrius Home+ has provided. I think this would be regarded as a wise investment for entertainment.

Disclaimer

I don’t have all these products I only have the Home plus model and experienced the Pro at a local mall before my purchase. All opinions in this post are built on my own individual experience. I am not sure whether you will get the same excellent result as I have or not. Because unlike the simple Bluetooth audio receiver, video system is more complicated and has diverse arrangements. Mine is composed of Optoma HD25/Samsung UN60F8000+ Denon AVR-X2000+PS3/ASUS M51AC-US004S/OPPO BDP-103D. They cooperate with each well and have no compatible issues.
